Methods: Image data obtained from 75 patients undergoing whole-body (18)F-sodium fluoride PET/CT were evaluated retrospectively. Arterial radiotracer uptake and calcification were analyzed qualitatively and semiquantitatively. Results: (18)F-sodium fluoride uptake was observed at 254 sites in 57 (76%) of the 75 study patients, and calcification was observed at 1,930 sites in 63 (84%) of the patients. 18F Sodium Fluoride (NaF) PET for Bone Scanning. The higher quality image, increased clinical accuracy, greater convenience to the patient and referring physician, and more efficient use of nuclear medicine resources all indicate the need to consider the use of 18F Sodium Fluoride (NaF) PET for imaging benign and malignant diseases of the skeleton.

Results from 41 clinical trials investigating the use of 18F-NaF PET as a bone imaging agent have been publishedsince 1992 and are summarized in this report. The majority of trials used a dose of 18F-fluoride that is In contrast to anatomic imaging modalities, sodium fluoride (Na[18 F]F) positron emission tomography (PET) for evaluating vascular osteogenesis in atherosclerotic plaques can detect early chemical changes. Employing this advanced imaging technique, it is possible to quantify the microcalcification within vulnerable plaques and to evaluate the Over the last 10 years, 18 F-sodium fluoride (18 F-NaF) positron emission tomography (PET) has emerged as a noninvasive quantitative imaging modality capable of imaging calcification activity in the vasculature.

is used than when [18F]fluoride is used. High specific activity is often critical to PET imaging. If a biological target of a radiotracer is saturated with the non–positron-emitting 19F-isotopolog of the tracer, a meaningful PET image cannot be obtained. PET tracers of low specific activity cannot be used to visualize biological targets that 18 F-Sodium Fluoride (NaF) PET/CT Bone Scan Indications. Introduction Effective February 7, 2011, PET/CT studies utilizing the radiopharmaceutical, 18 F-Sodium Fluoride (NaF) are covered for the detection and evaluation of bone metastases for Medicare beneficiaries through the Coverage with Evidence Development/ National Oncologic PET Registry program (NOPR). 18 F-sodium fluoride (NaF) is a tracer used in positron emission tomographic (PET) imaging to detect malignant bone metastases. NaF was also shown to selectively deposit in atherosclerotic plaques where microcalcifications accumulate in crystals of calcium apatite.
The PET findings were correlated with the findings of other imaging modalities. Interobserver agreement for the anatomic lesion localization was calculated with the use of the kappa statistic. RESULTS: All 30 combined FDG and fluoride studies yielded high-quality whole-body images.

The evidence on atherosclerosis imaging with 18F-sodium-fluoride (NaF) positron emission tomography (PET) is hotly debated because of the different patient
15 Jun 2020 Positron emission tomography (PET) imaging using the calcification tracer 18F- sodium fluoride (NaF) appears to predict disease activity and MI
We believe that NaF positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) scans can provide a more thorough and conclusive evaluation of bone
Sodium fluoride F 18 injection (10–200 mCi/mL) is a radioactive diagnostic agent for positron emission tomography (PET) indicated for imaging bone to define. 15 Jan 2019 Recently, with the increased availability of positron emission tomography (PET) scanners there has been a surge in clinical utilization of 18F-NaF

Currently, 18F-fluoride PET/CT is considered to be the most comprehensive imaging modality to evaluate metastatic bone disease. The inclusion of such imaging
What is a PET F18 fluoride bone scan? PET stands for positron emission tomography. A PET bone scan is an imaging test that uses a radioactive substance

The primary clinical use of sodium fluoride PET is in detection of osseous prostate cancer metastasis. 18F sodium fluoride PET may be useful for disease monitoring and localizing amyloid deposition in transthyretin amyloidosis [10]. 18FDG PET and computed tomography (CT) can measure disease activity and progression in aortic stenosis [11]. PET can measure valvular calcification and inflammation in aortic stenosis [12]. 18 F-sodium fluoride ( 18 F-NaF) is a positron emission tomography (PET) radiotracer widely used in skeletal imaging and has also been proposed as a biomarker of active calcification in atherosclerosis.
